by rights you are to declare any income you make selling if it is not personal items. Right now they are focusing on PowerSellers on ebay but that does not mean that at some point they wont focus on others down the road. If personal items One would have to prove that the items that were sold were such if asked

It would help to know what you are selling, but in most cases Canada Post is the most common method. If this is your store ID, you need at least 20 feedback first before you can open a store. Also if you have not dealt on ebay before you may want to consider buying a few items before you start selling.

Hi Everyone!
How are you?
I am trying to open a store on ebay recently and I have one question regarding shipping fees.
What are the most common ways to ship items to buyer?
I am in Vancouver.
Thanks so much!!

Dutch Auction.

But be very clear in your auction that the auction is for 1 yard of material and then the Dutch Auction will let them bid on multiple yards

sapcefille - you need to set your preferences so that buyers cannot adjust the invoice. Go to your my ebay page, click on the account tab, then click on site preferences, Payment from buyers is second on the list, click the show link and edit the section that allows buyers to alter their invoice.

galaxy - you can file an unpaid item dispute 7 days after end of auction. I invoice on day 1, send a second invoice on day 3 and then file the dispute on day 7.

djini - I'm not terribly familiar with multiple item auctions...they are confusing at best.

Hello! How was my bidder able to pay me just a dollar for shipping? I had to cancel that transaction and re-invoice them through paypal because E-bay wouldn't let me correct this error? Why is E-bay letting them enter their own shipping amounts??

If I list yard goods ( fabrics )
how does my buyer bid on multiple yards?

Eg: I list 1 Yard but I have 50 for sale
At what point does my buyer bid on and pay for 6 yards?
Does this happen at checkout?

You seem to missing some details here. Did you file a claim for goods not received. If so then PayPal froze the funds in case you don't get the item. You can't get your money back and get the item. You may filed a claim to soon. It would help to have more information.

If you release your claim and the seller does not ship, then you cannot file another claim. It looks like if you already filed a claim you will have to settle for your money back and not get the item.

Someone posted information about duty and brokerage fees.
Here is a real example of hidden costs for a golf club shipped from the US to Canada:
Club $ 50 US $ 55 Cdn
UPS S&H $ 30 US $ 34 Cdn
UPS Brokerage Fee $ 33 US $ 37 Cdn
Total Cost $113 US $126 Cdn

UPS made $71 Cdn on a $55 Cdn Club. You need to avoid this incredible markup if you can. FEdEx is much better.

Buyer wants to return item.

One of my buyers requested to return the item from my auction... despite my attempt to give an accurate description, and even mentioning that buyer should expect some limitations on this product due to its size and capacity.

I have agreed to check ebays policy and procedure of doing a return and refund. But I cannot find any information regarding this.

Does ebay have a link to explain the item return process, will I receive a refund on my FVF.

Thanks for your help,
... ebay is full of graet, wonderful people who are willing to help; an extremely valuable service for new buyers and sellers.!!

Sorry to hear about your initiation to UPS Ground Service. Yes it is expensive. The fees are for brokerage and not shipping. They are outrageous.

The buyer is responsible for the fees and ebay states so in their help pages, but it is not easy to find. Many first time Canadian buyers find out the hard way. If you scroll down to the big red and blue post you will see details on all the charges.

Some sellers are not aware of the charges by UPS, others are and don't care because it is not their problem.

In either case you don't have any recourse against the seller.

Sorry.

Do not use UPS for international shipping.

They do not warn people that there will be a substantial COD charge on top of the price paid to ship. A seller and I called them to complain and they were completely unapologetic and unhelpful. They felt that it was our responsibility to read the small print and guess what 'there may be additional charges' would mean. The cost at the border was $15 on one package and $33 on another. I had already spent $60 to ship.

Do not use UPS.

Bought an item and paid HUGE amount of shipping for it. The seller did not state, in their ebay ad, that it was my responsibility to pay for all these fees, which is another $100. When I got the item I was then charged UPS fees as COD.

Is this seller in the wrong? What can I do because I have now paid x2 the shipping price.

You are listing on eBay.com which only uses US pricing for postal or courier shipping.

You can get Canadian services by listing on eBay.CA (the Canadian site) in US dollars with shipping cost to the SA spelled out.

This will give you Visibility on the US site as well as the Canadian one.

Here is ebays policy on how to deal with unpaid items. http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/unpaid-items.html

Exactly how long you wait is up to you. Some sellers file an unpaid item report as soon as they can, others are more patient. There is no one right answer.

Seems every time I want to revise a stores inventory item I get snagged up on the shipping part - everything is UPS and there's no provisions for Canadian sellers. I end up checking off "flat rate" , putting in a dollar figure, then explaining in my description that it's basically a bogus number ( as it varies depending on location ). How does one get around that?

Is it going cross border or within Canada? I know there are firms that specialize in shipping vehicles. Are you selling or buying? If you are buying, be sure that you know all the regulations before trying to bring it into Canada. Also make sure the seller is legit. Check out this link.

It means that the seller did not use a Paypal shipping label (which posts automatically to your Items Bought list) and did not manually inform you that the item has been sent.

Send the seller a Contact Member and ask for the Delivery Confirmation number.

If you are ignored on Day 21 file an Item Not Received dispute with eBay.

If the seller has been in touch, there would be no real reason to worry until Day 30. You have 45 days to file a Dispute and 60 days to leave feedback.

The seller clearly lists the shipping in the auction, so you knew what it was before you bid. They clearly state that shipping also covers additional costs such as packaging, labor and administrative costs, not just postage and is non-refundable. You could try reporting the seller for excessive shipping charges but it will not change the current transaction.

The seller may only ship to Canada because of regulations on the vehicle. Also many Canadian sellers sell in US$, it is not uncommon.

Importing Goods into Canada
---------------
The Following charges apply if the purchase is over $20 Canadian (not including shipping)
Taxes Duty Brokerage
GST and PST(if applicable) based on the value declared on the customs form. If the seller declares a higher amount than what you paid, you can apply for a refund/adjustment. Items made in North America are duty free under NAFTA. Otherwise you can use My Border Pro to see the duty rate or you can contact Border Information Services. If sent by mail - $5 ($8 if priority post/express mail).

UPS Ground rates are based on the value of the item.

Fedex Ground does not publish their rates but they appear to be a bit less than UPS Ground.

Items sent by UPS Air have no brokerage charges. Fedex Air seems to have a $7 charge.
This information is prepared to the best of my knowledge. You can view the Canada Border Services Agency publication on Importing Non-Commercials Goods by Mail here.

I was wondering what the membership, or eBay staff might think about an eBay merchant who would seem to charge exorbitant shipping. While I've been found to be the successful bidder of an item, and completed the transaction, information has come to light that it's entirely likely that I paid between double, and triple for shipping. (closer to triple in fact, considering I'm billed in US. I find it odd too, that this merchant in Vancouver, who deals only with Canadians, sells in US $$ exclusively. Does anyone think I may have recourse? Thanks.

Be very cautious of the Middle East, particularly Israel. Italy has a bad postal system, ALWAYS use Delivery Confirmation and/or insurance.
I've had one bad experience with Pakistan, but India seems to be okay.

Frankly I have a higher ratio of problems with American sellers than any other nationality.

Remember that SmallPacket International carries $100 insurance automatically. You need not depend on Paypal for reimbursement of undelivered merchandise.

And do tell your buyers that your parcels are insured and Delivery Confirmed. It makes the honest ones feel warm and loved, and makes the dishonest ones think twice.

ONLY SHIP AIR MAIL.

There is no problem with the cost of shipping internationally. Let your bidders know the cost and they can decide if the transaction is a good deal.

I have tried them and had one or two bottom feeding offers and another couple of non-payers.

Then the site charged me for the unpaid "sales" and it took a couple of months to get that cleared.

On the other hand if you don't mind being lumped in with blatant counterfeiters and sellers of obvious Asian junk....

I gave it 18 months, quit in disgust.

Etsy was not good for me, because of what I sell, but I do buy there.

Bonanzle is okay, few sales but easy to deal with.

eBay has a non-paying bidder process that you can use to help get your payment or in the event that you don't get paid, get back your final value fees. There is nothing eBay can do to force the buyer to pay. Here is their policy.

Whether an item sells on eBay or any other site, depends on the demand for that item. It is difficult to sell a $10 item on ebay with a $15 shipping charge unless it is hard to find.

I usually sell small items that I can ship small packet anywhere for reasonable prices. This seems to work well but when it comes to larger items the shipping is absolutely ridiculous. I went right the Canada Post website to get the cost of shipping - too much - I wouldn't pay to have something sent to me that costs more shipping than the purchase price.

You can calculate the shipping cost by going to Canada Post. Also if you list on ebay.ca you can use eBay's shipping calculator in your listings to simplify the process.

As for good wholesalers, if anyone had any good ones (which are very hard to find) they most likely would not want to share them as they would be increasing their competition.

Canada Post is the best for international shipping -- Air Mail/ Delivery Confirmed and fully insured. Check into the cost of Priority Post in North America. Internationally this is Purolator which is partly owned by the Canadian and Netherlands postal services.

Second best--FedEx.

Based on nearly 20 years of shipping high value philatelic items worldwide.

But don't offer high value electronic items until you have a couple of hundred positive feedback. Until then you are scambait.

If I have the notice of payment recieved and recieved the item, then obviously have payed the seller. How do get the none payment notices off of my record, and out of my feedback file?

Here's hoping some other regulars will jump in on this but here is a start for you.

Not sure on the BC rules but if they are the same as Ontario, you should be registered now to charge PST. You don't HAVE to register for GST until you hit $30,000 in sales in a 12 month period. However it may be to your advantage to register now for GST if you haven't already.

In any case, I would suggest seeking the advice of a good tax professional so that you do things right but also you can maximize your business expense deductions.

I would assume you are being scammed. Ask yourself what level headed buyer would purchase an expensive item and not want it insured. If you send the item uninsured and the seller never gets it, you are out of luck. Also I would bet that the escrow service that they would suggest would be a counterfeit escrow service.

I don't think you will find a legit buyer wanting to purchase a $3,500 watch from a seller with zero feedback. Most legit buyers would assume they may end up getting scammed. I see your only potential is if someone in the same city as you wanted the watch and was willing to meet you and pay cash. But that also has risks for both parties.

The other problem you may will have if you do find a legit buyer who is willing to send you $3,500 on the hopes that you will send out the watch, is that you will have problems getting it insured for that amount.

Can anyone direct me to the rules regarding selling? I have an item that a buyer wants to purchase, but is insisting I don't insure the piece during shipping because import duties are so high in his country (item value=$3500, import duty 40%).

He tells me he will transfer the $ into "eBay's account", for which I will receive an email confirmation that the $ is in escrow. At that time, he asks that I send the item without insurance and listing as $50 value to him in Romania.

Short question, am I being scammed here?

A money order is a payment order for a pre-specified amount of money. They are issued by Banks Post Offices and certain businesses

One can purchase these by paying upfront for the amount they wish to send plus a handling charge for the organization that issues them

While fraud can happen with them IE False ones overall they are more secure than cheques. The money has been paid and is there

The most secure ones are from banks and from Post Offices
While not being allowed to ask for M.O.'s in ones listings on ebay anymore one can offer that option for payment
Post Office MO's are apparently the most secure
If payment is from the U'S most prefer The USPO International Money order. The pink one. There is a green one but it is only good in the U.S and territiories

They are allowed to offer that in their invoice after the auction is closed or by prearrangement with someone

If one uses a Money order there are cons to this. If something happens ebay will not offer assistance if the transaction goes wrong with payment.

I personally accept M.O.'s have for years and never had a problem but overall payments such as PayPal are more secure and faster to deal with if there is a problem

I agree that the seller was a bit abrupt, but he does have some accuracy in his statements. Although we are not a nation of thieves, it is well known that there are some Canadian buyers who will buy from US sellers who do not use a tracking number (but have lower shipping costs) and then make a claim for goods not received even though they have received the goods. That is the main reason behind the high shipping costs from some US sellers. They want to make sure that the items they ship to Canada have proof of delivery.

As for Canada Post being inept -- that is a bit harsh, but they do have their moments.

Hi, ive been on this now for a while and havent encountered any problems until now. I just wanted to let people know about the seller "notcounterfeitjerseys" . I simply asked him why his shipping prices where soo high? Ive purchased jerseys in the past and shipping was far less. I never was so insulted! I got an email in return that said "Because Canada Post is inept, and you are a nation of thieves." That was copied and posted direct from my email!! This guy/girl has no morals and was rude and ignorant. So be careful. Not a quality person who doesnt seem to care much about potential customers. My feedback is 100%. im a good person who is respectful! Expect the same when im trusting my hard earned money with people I dont know. Thanks n good bidding folks!!!

The seller has not had any transactions in the last 6 years and then in a 3 day time span they sell 2 items worth over $10,000 each. To me the transaction screams out that it is a hijacked account and a fraudulent transaction. Proceed very carefully.

poohbah - if you are saying that the seller has a merchant account and is offering their item with debit as a form of payment on their listing then you simply win the auction on ebay, contact the seller after winning and make arrangements for payment. There is nothing outside of ebay at all.

poobah - a seller cannot offer to accept money orders or any other such no traceable form of payment. Smaller sellers will not have access to debit transactions. Paypal is your safest form of payment as a buyer. You might want to consider signing up for it.

if a seller has options of payment other then PayPal listed, but then say for instance, in order to pay by debit i would have to contact them through phone or email for the transaction, isn't that considered out of e bay, and isn't that false information since a debit transaction can be completed on an auction

totally crunked

This is why buyers are advised to use Paypal-- it is possible to get a refund in case of disputes. With money orders-- it is possible that the MO was not even cashed by your seller.

I had a CASH payment sent to me that took over 30 days in the mail. I don't know if my buyer or I was more freaked.

You might be able to find your seller if you sent him a Paypal payment that he refunded. If that happened look in your PP history.

I found it odd the CBSA officer asked me how much I paid for shipping. I showed him the eBay page with the item I won and how much it was. They still asked how much I paid for shipping though, and added it to the declared value. There was no duty/brokerage though, since it is a very old car part.

I will call them on Monday.

Unfortunately for your seller, you only have to pay the amount she quoted.
Ask her if she quoted a price without Delivery Confirmation and if the USPS included Delivery Confirmation in their quote.

If she does not complete the sale she is risking both her feedback and her DSRs over $16. Allow her to consider this but don't mention either or you could be charged with feedback extortion.

She may want the DC or she may decide to trust you. If she opts for low cost/high trust, she would be a Five Star Seller, in my opinion.

There should be a phone number on the back of your customs receipt. Phone it on Monday and ask about a refund of the duty on shipping.

Be ready to provide a copy of the eBay transaction and invoice, probably by fax or as a pdf attachment to an email.

Many customs officers are human and make mistakes.

I drove across the border to pickup the item and was charged tax on the 'shipping' cost on the way back. Is this correct? I did not question it at the time, but it does not make sense to me. I had it shipped from a US source to a US destination. So why is CBSA charging tax on that?

Thx

villageimpressionsstamps :

No, I don't pay duty on books----but if I declared a book over $200 that was published in England I would have to pay the $6.00. That fee isn't duty--it is some other mysterious fee.

You actually do not need a US credit card to use Endicia ( the postage printing company I use)---but you do need a US mailing address. PO Box will work just fine. I know many Canadian sellers that use their Canadian Credit Cards with Endicia

But as far as a US credit card---go to one of the local banks and open a personal (non-resident) account. The US banks have debit cards with Visa or Mastercard logos on them. They have no credit attached to them as they can only access the funds that you have in your bank account---but they work like credit cards as far as any transaction is concerned.

---and if you do open an account with Endicia and you have no one else in mind-can you use my account number as a reference?? I get a free month if you stay with them :-)

Hi All, I recently moved to Canada and need to print shipping labels. When I lived in the US, my shipping process was super easy and I'm trying to re-create that here, if possible. I used Endicia desktop shipping software (Mac version) along with my Zebra label printer. Copy, paste, print, done. I've been searching online and so far I can't seem to find any 3rd party software to ship via Canada Post. I've been using the Canada Post online shipping tool and it is flat out PAINFUL! 5 steps to complete one label (on my inkjet printer), not to mention if their server is slow, you have to start all over again. Needless to say, it's been a nightmare to use.

Does anyone have any other recommendations? Also, I use a Mac, but in this case I would consider buying a cheap Windows laptop just create a more efficient and less time consuming process if the software required it.

Any help or advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

phoebescollectables – thanks for the reply, your posts are very helpful!

bookstotheborder – we are still working on a US credit card, and intend to use one of the on line postage services as soon as we get the card, any recommendations?

You are right it seems a very arbitrary process, each agent seems to gives a different result. It seems to me that they take our form at face value, and only check for their favorite things. Still, it has been amazingly hassle free, I just say sorry, and that I will add whatever they ask for the next time and they let us go. One of the agents tells us to spend the fee in town and doesn’t even collect it.

I am amazed at how little help/information is available on line for this. About half the vehicles in our US post office parking lot have Ontario plates, I can just guess how their mail is getting across the border!

Maybe the brokers keep a strangle hold on the info, the ones I talked to only wanted to know how many tractor trailer loads a day I had and weren’t interested in eBay volumes.

I looked at 7533 but settled on the 7523 since we sell rubber stamps which are duty free. Do you pay duty on your books? The forms have similar content, so a change should be no problem.

I found information that seems to say ACE will not apply to 7523 transactions, I can post a link if you are interested.

I can no longer find any link that explains the $200 individual limit, but it stuck in my memory, and if you think so, it must be true.

Unfortunately, we don’t have many $200 orders, perhaps if we get busier, we will change to the 7533.

We are quite likely going to get a transponder in the new year to save messing around with cash.

Thanks!

Italy has a bad postal system and a worse customs system. (Although the often quoted USPS list of prohibited good is bogus).
Some Italians use this to game sellers.

Make sure your package is insured. Delivery Confirmation is a bonus, but expect if there is a problem to solve it through the Post Office not PP.

I live in Ontaro, Canada and am a buyer. I have made atleast 50 purchases without any problems. But one issue that came up a while ago has resurfaced. I have bought an item from a seller that is located in the US. When they went to the post office to send me my package, the postal person said they could not ship the package with a PO Box # in the shipping address unless the seller had my phone number!!!!????? So the seller removed the PO Box # so that she could ship the package. Here is what she explained in an email to me
"The postmaster here told me that if I used a P.O. Box that I would have to have your phone number and I told him I didn't have it . He said that is Canada's law not ours and so I told him to just take off the PO box."
She was up in arms as to what to do and I don't blame her. Where I live, the post office is very adamant that all pieces of incoming mail are to have my PO Box # affixed to them. What's up with the USPS??

villageimpressionsstamps : I am only an expert at my border crossing---each crossing seems to have it's own little quirks.

But if a shipment to an individual address is more then $200 then you are no longer going across with the Informal Declaration---you may even have to start Electronically doing your declaration (ACE). --and if the items in the over $200 shipment are not Canadian, USA or Mexican--then you will be paying an additional $6.00 to US Homeland Security. This amount is on top of the $10.75 commercial entry fee

I have always used Form #7533---but I haven;t had to use a broker with this form (yet)

Question: are you paying for your postage at the Post Office or doing it at home??

There is one possible reason, and that is that the items you see are GTC Store or Fixed Price and have been up since before the ban requesting non-PP payments.

The eBay 'bots don't see them. If you feel grumpy about it you can Report any you see.

But new listings will not get past the 'bots.

We have started carrying our goods across the border to mail in the USA, using Form 7523 Entry and Manifest of Merchandise Free of Duty.

We have made about a dozen trips so far. Different agents seem to look for different things, so far we have been asked to add weight, country of origin and license plate number to the form, but other than that have had no problems.

1) I am confused about the dollar limit. I think/know the total value is $US 2,000. Is there also a limit that each of the individual sales must be under $US 200? Or am I confusing this with the requirements of Form 368 - Collection Receipt of Informal Entry?

2) What happens after we exceed $2,000 in shipments, has anyone lucky enough to have to deal with this? Can you cross more than once a day? I think the next level form is 7533 Inward Cargo Manifest and possibly needing a broker.

Thanks

Well first your no refund policy is worthless. If you ship something and it doesn't get delivered, then all the buyer has to do is file a PayPal claim to get their money back.

As a seller it is your responsibility to get the item to the buyer. How would you feel if you bought something online and it was never delivered. Wouldn't you want to get your money back.

Can you tell us how it was shipped and from where to where?

I have a no refund policy which is listed in my ebay auctions and I did ship it. Still, I feel I should do something if it doesn't show up. What are my responsbilities and obligations here ?

You just don't have to buy from a seller with 100% feedback, but 98% implies to me that 1 out of every 50 reported transactions has a problem. That is way to high for me. I frequently buy on eBay and usually try to stay with sellers in the 99.6% and higher. The 1.6% difference may not seem like much but it can make a big difference.

More importantly, it sounds like the seller is trying to do a deal outside of ebay without you actually bidding on the items. It doesn't matter if all the messages went through eBay messenger. You may have some limited coverage if you pay using your credit card, but if you decide to purchase the seller should let you buy the items at that price on eBay and not through a side deal.

You may want to read this page to help protect yourself.

This is my first time bid on eBay. I really don't know any seller. After you, we should only buy from seller with 100% feedback score ?

I saw a lot of 5 items. So I asked him if he wants to sell with a fix price. He agree for 2200$. I asked if he can make for 2000$. He agree right away. All conversation done through eBay messenger. He asked my paypal email account to send my invoice. In the invoice should it be clearly descript all items or just Good - 2000$ from him to me ?

if something goes wrong, like items not as descripted or not receive marchandises. Can PayPal helps me to get money back ?

I really appreciate your advices !

I had one of my listings removed because I noted that "If Paypal is not an option for payment email me before bidding."
I managed to change my other listings before they removed them.
Why can't I note that but other sellers blatantly post it on their auctionsusing fancy templates? How I do i get it put back other than having to relist and pay another listing fee?

crk265 : the only people who make money in dropshipping is the dropshipper

and you would definitely be not making any money if you added another 3rd party into the picture to ship internationally.

You can refuse delivery, but then you would have to rely on PayPal refunding your money for goods not received. I have never done that before so I don't have any experience with it. Maybe some others have tried it.

A seller is not allowed to increase the shipping charge from what was previously quoted. If they won't bring the shipping charge you can report them as a non-selling seller.

Hi, Is it safe to purchase items up to 2000$/bid on eBay ? Specially the seller gave a very cheap price. Seller having a feedback score of 98% / (140 feedbacks).

Thanks for your advices

I won an bracelet a few days ago but the seller increased the shipping charge to $32.00. Prior to bidding I emailed the seller about the shipping charges and the reply indicated that it could be about $16.00 This is a small item shipping from California to BC. I can not change the payment transaction to pay the amount quoted for shipping and the only emails I've received from the seller are the same invoice form. What to do now?

Again it comes down to how much a negative is worth to you. Also Small Packet air does not have a tracking number. You may have been given a reference number, but if you put it into Canada Post's tracking program it shouldn't show anything. If it is small packet then he can force a refund. Another approach is to ask him to be a bit more patient and wait until Friday and see what he says.

What you are referring to is a scam. Do not deal with the sellers anymore. The program they talk about does not exist.

The sale will be managed through eBay under their Vehicle Purchase Protection program since they offer the highest rate of safety and reliability for transactions.
Through their Vehicle Purchase Program you will have 5 days to inspect and test it before proceeding to the payment step. eBay will complete the invoice in your name and will instruct me to start the shipping once they will verify the delivery address.
So if you agree please email me your full name and address so I can start the official procedure trough eBay and they will send the invoice

Hi
It does have a tracking number and it is Canada Post USA Air Small Packet which is more expensive (it has coverage insurance of 100.00$) I always use Paypal to pring my shipping labels.
The value of the costume is 40.99 $ US.
The buyer wants money of costume + shipping, but all was shipped to him. I have my proof of shipping and I did send him a copy of the Packing slip provided by Paypal.
He wants his money refunded by tomorrow. He says that if he receives the costume he will send me back the money.

A $3-$4 handling charge on a $10 to $15 item seems quite a lot when dealing on eBay, which is probably why you are having complaints. Also with the stronger CDN$ that makes shipping that much more expensive. considering the weight of some of your items flat rate boxes may be more expensive. You can always get shipping costs from canadapost.ca or use the shipping calculator in your ebay listings.

It would help to know how much the item was worth. Also I assume you meant small packet with no tracking number.

I take the premise that the customer is always right (well most of the time anyways). For whatever reason you have an unhappy customer. Depending on how much money you have invested I would seriously consider refunding the buyer now. Don't make them ship it back. Ask yourself how much a negative feedback is worth to you.

Also if the item went small packet without a tracking number (as there are no tracking numbers for small packet) then they can force a refund at any time by filing a paypal claim.

Hi there. I use Canada Post flat rate shipping as this is easiest for us and then we add a small handling charge of aoubt $3 or $4 to the overall shipping. I constantly receive comments from people about the cost of shipping. But there is no solution - that is what it costs and to package each item individually and go to the post office will cost the same because a person should charge something for their time. Any solutions to this. I have put on my sale items the commetn that there is nothing Ican do about this - the rates are Canada Post. Also does anyone know where I can get some accurate online pricing for international shipping. Thanks.

Hi
I have a small problem and do not know what to do
I sold a costume to a person on the 4 of October. The costume was shipped to the buyer on the 5th by Canada Post, USA Small Packet with tracking number which takes from 4 to 10 business days for delivery. The buyer has been sending emails since the 12th telling me that he has not received his costume which he needed for the 14th. On the 14th I told him that I would refund the cost of costume if he received it, as soon as he send it back to me (shipping being the buyers responsibility) He now wants me to refund him for the costume and the shipping since as of this morning he has not received the costume. I told him that that I would make a claim to Canada Post for lost item after it has been 10 business days but he still wants all of money back. He is now threatening me to leave negative feedback. Please help me, what do I do

crk - looks like your supplier is really a dropshipper? If yes, its going to be a hard road. Its tough to make a profit using the vast majority of drop shippers.

n-martin - UPS is not charging you shipping. They are charging you their usual brokerage fee and they are collecting taxes for the Canadian government. See the big red and blue post just a little ways down the page. It happens to all of us once. Bear in mind that none of this money that you pay UPS is going to the seller.

Any companies that do it would have to be located in your area. Try contacting some of the customs brokers that also transport goods in your area to see if they can help.

Additional charges are determined by value not weight. In you case both are under $20 Canadian so as long as the seller properly declares the value you will not incur any additional charges.

Check out the post above this one for details.

standard int'l flat rate shipping is a catchall description.
If it went by mail you can try the tracking number here.

If not then try some of the couriers, like DHL, Fedex and UPS.

You just put in the seller's username into it (that's the user ID). It should be on the right hand side of the listing page under "Seller info". The item number is below that under "Other item info". If you're not sure, take a look at this random listing that I pulled up as an example. If you don't want the car anymore, contact the seller using the eBay messaging system for a mutual cancellation.

Thank you so much for the information. I certainly do not want that vehicle with those large dents. I have not paid a cent for it and I have not put down a deposit yet. I am having a hard time understanding all of this and how people can do what they can do. I guess buyer be aware is the theme of the day everywhere. My husband will love this. Thank you so much. By the way, where can I find the ID number of the seller so that I can check out the info on Toolhaus? Thank you.

This sounds a bit fishy. I would trust the dealer and NOT the seller. I don't see any items in your history for the past 30 days? Is it under this account or another?

Once you have the car, there's no recourse for return even if you have to pay a lot to fix it up. You have to do all the homework and make sure it's working properly, etc. I've heard of cases where the buyer didn't really check and they were on the hook for a ton of expenses to fix the car.

Make sure you SEE the car first before you buy it (or have someone you trust do so for you). Also, do a lien check to make sure the person actually owns the car.

http://pages.ebay.ca/help/buy/eBayMotors.html

This is an eBay Motors transaction with an ITEM number right? I only ask this because there has been a splurge questions about (fake) eBay representatives, Western Union, (fake) eBay e-mails, etc. or they found a "deal" on other sites. (Link)

I'm not familiar with deposits, but I assume you can use PayPal as they accept credit cards.

You can request the seller's contact information from eBay and call them.

If they are still not co-operative, you can file a Seller Non Performing dispute (click Additional Information). It might not get you the item, but it'll put a mark on the seller's record.

And remember to leave feedback and DSR ratings (1 is the lowest).

Toolhaus.org is a better source to view "real" feedback (negative/neutral). This seller has a ton of negative feedback about communication and poor quality of the items.
